Karen Jones PhD – Managing Director, BioEngagement

As a former marketing director for biotechnology and pharmaceutical service providers, I bring an unusual combination of PhD-level scientific training in oncology molecular genetics and global sales and marketing experience in biotechnology and CROs.
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of working with many great scientists from a wide range of disciplines – including computational modeling, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, molecular biology, ADME, pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacology to name a few. The services that I’ve helped to develop out of these disciplines have provided support for pharmaceutical R&D, preclinical and early clinical development. As a result, I’ve gained a good understanding of the pharmaceutical discovery and development process and the needs of the various research teams working within the industry.
I’ve also had the good fortune to work with smart and experienced commercial people who through the years have provided me with the tools and disciplines needed to understand market needs, listen and respond to customers, effectively communicate scientific services and construct commercial deals for the benefit of all parties concerned. I’ve been on the road selling services and closing deals as well as creating and implementing marketing strategies. These tools have enabled me to be an effective commercial strategist.
Helping Early Life Science Companies To Launch and Grow
I founded BioEngagement in 2009 to serve what I saw as an unmet need in biotechnology companies, academic spin-offs and pharmaceutical service providers – namely, to provide guidance and support in order shape commercially-viable product and service offerings from complex technology.
I work with clients to help them define their new products and services, engage with their target market and articulate the benefits and applications of their science.
